My Life in KOBE

Before I came over to Jakarta in 1995, I used to live in Kobe for 3 years. Kobe is in the western part of Japan, about 600km away from Tokyo, and has been famous for its beautiful scenic points such as Port of Kobe and Mt. Rokko. Since the port got open to expatriates about 130 years ago, there used to live many diplomats and traders from various countries. You can still find many of old western houses built over 80 years ago.

Those grown up in this multinational atmosphere are respectfully called "Kobekko" (Children of Kobe). They are very fashionable, sophisticated and friendly. Unfortunately I was grown up in Osaka, on the east of Kobe, so I used to envy my cousins who are born and grown up in Kobe.
